March 16, 2021: March 16 Update

Date: March 16, 2021

From: Rick Culliton

Subject: March 16 update

Dear students,

I write to update you on changes to campus COVID plans. Middletown’s alert level remains Orange, which is based on the number of cases reported in the city. In an effort to keep Wesleyan’s on-campus positivity rate low, please remember to adhere to our safety measures. Moving forward, the restrictions outlined in the March 9 message will continue with a few adjustments:

  • Students may now visit each other in residence halls and program houses. COVID capacities, including no more than two individuals in a bedroom at any one time, and COVID guidelines must be followed—wearing masks and maintaining six-foot distancing.
  • Wood frame residents are now able to host small backyard gatherings with no more than 10 students. Students may only attend these gatherings if invited by the host. The registration link and specific details will be sent directly to wood frame residents.
  • To clarify last week’s message, students must seek approval from the appropriate faculty or staff member before resuming in-person internships, jobs, volunteerism, academic partnerships, and other off-campus civic engagement activities coordinated by Wesleyan.

Sincerely,

Rick Culliton
Dean of Students
